RACE AGAINST BREAST CANCER

Last November (2022) a group of students from Ies La Oliva took part  in Fuerteventura Island’s  Carrera y marcha por la esperanza frente al cáncer de mama’,.  The race was organized by the city hall of La Oliva with the collaboration of local and regional sponsors which collaborated with this   race against breast cancer. This popular event was held in El Cotillo and every year it takes place around November.

Many students from IES La Oliva- who also participate in the event through the Erasmus Fit4Thought activities-  took part in this race which aims to raise funds for cancer treatment subsidies, welfare assistance, cancer rehabilitation, hospice care, cancer screenings, research, etc.

Apart from students from IES La Oliva taking part in the Erasmus + Fit For Thought Project, about 500 people participated in the event which had  different categories: 1km for children under 12 and  3 kilometers for people over 13. Apart from raising funds against cancer and its scientific research,  this race also  aims to develop a healthier healthy lifestyle at the same time as spending a day practicing sports amongst family and friends thus contributing to a better physical and mental health of its participants .
